Luminous Botanicals is one of the most effective cannabis-infused products on the market today. Easy to use, pure, potent and reliable, their Cure-All Blends embrace the full healing potential of plant medicine. It’s no wonder they have such a loyal following, including our customers here at Bridge City Collective. Inspired by the glowing reviews we receive about Luminous Botanicals, we reached out to Sally Alworth and Devan Anthony to learn more.
What inspired the creation of Luminous Botanicals?
Luminous Botanicals is owned and operated by two Portlanders, Devan Anthony and Sally Alworth. In 2013, Devan badly injured his back. His doctor said that the compressed vertebra and damaged discs would only heal with time and offered to prescribe opiates for the pain. Devan opted for a more natural approach, getting his OMMP card and starting to experiment with CBD-rich Rick Simpson Oil. The RSO worked, allowing him to sleep through the night for the first time in weeks, but it was difficult to dial in a consistent dose. Devan was eating a small amount of RSO each evening, about the size of half a grain of rice. That quantity let him sleep deeply all night and left him with less pain throughout the following day. But if he accidentally took a little bit more, he’d be so high that he couldn’t sleep at all. That’s where the idea for the Cure-All came from. We wanted to create a cannabis medicine that is potent enough to give patients real relief in a form that makes it easy to find the perfect dose every time.
Describe your line of products.
The Cannabis Cure-All line is the first and only cannabis medicine designed to be eaten, rubbed into sore muscles and aching joints, and enjoyed by both men and women to enhance sensual pleasure. We make three blends of Cure-All: Sky (9:1 THC/CBD), Meadow (1:1 THC/CBD), and Earth (1:9 THC/CBD). All of the medicines in the Cure-All line have a standardized potency of 25 milligrams of activated cannabinoids per milliliter – only the ratio of THC to CBD changes between blends. Each bottle of Cure-All comes with a graduated dropper that makes it easy for patients to dial in their perfect dose. In the 1-ounce bottle, the dropper is marked to show a 10 mg dose and a 20 mg dose. In the .5-ounce bottle, the dropper is marked at 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, and 20 mg doses. The .8 milliliter trial-sized vials of Cure-All are equal to one full dropper, or 20 mg of cannabinoids.
We also make Dew Sensual Oil, which contains 25 mg of THC per milliliter. Packaged in 10 ml airless pump bottles, it’s a little easier to dispense for sensual use, and it also features an essential oil blend that we think is especially appealing in the bedroom.
Tell us about the ingredients.
We source the THC trim we use in the Cure-All from a Clean Green certified grower in southern Oregon. We grow about a third of the CBD plant material we use ourselves, using a no-till living soil approach – no chemicals, pesticides, or bottled nutrients. The rest of our CBD plant material comes from small growers who share our commitment to more natural growing practices. We use virgin, Fair Trade, organic coconut oil and organic domestic almond oil as the base for the Cure-All, and organic fractionated coconut oil and organic domestic almond oil as the base for Dew. All of our products are flavored with high-quality, edible essential oils at a concentration of 1% or less. We prefer not to reveal exactly which oils make up our proprietary flavor blends, to try to discourage copycats. However, if you have a patient who is sensitive to a particular essential oil, you can always contact us directly and we’ll tell you if the oil they are worried about is part of our medicine.
Tell us about the process you use to make them.
We make our whole-plant concentrates by infusing our plant material directly into the base blend of organic oils using low heat. Because the cannabinoids are naturally oil-soluble, we never need to use alcohol or chemical solvents. We make a very strong initial infusion which we filter and decarboxylate, then lab test for potency. We then add more organic oils and our essential oil blend to dilute the concentrate to our target potency of 25 milligrams per milliliter. After a second round of laboratory testing, the medicine is ready to bottle. We work with a lab that helps us to insure the accuracy of every batch by running all potency tests in duplicate. This means that every batch of Cure-All has been potency tested at least four times.
What symptoms can be relieved by using Luminous Botanicals?
We are not medical professionals, so you shouldn’t relate to anything we tell you as medical advice. Having worked with patients for over a year and half, our experience is that the key to using Cannabis Cure-All is finding the right mix of cannabinoids for the symptoms a patient is trying to treat.
Because it is THC-dominant, Sky blend tends to be best for patients dealing with nausea, loss of appetite, or severe pain. Sky is also the blend that most patients prefer for topical pain relief. Patients report using Sky topically for arthritic hands and joints, lower back pain, and aching muscles. Sky is also our favorite blend for sensual use; for us, it amplifies and extends climax.
Meadow blend provides a wonderful balance, combining the pain-relieving strength of THC with the anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic benefits of CBD. Both of us eat Meadow daily to manage our pain, Devan for his back injury, and Sally for back and hip pain related to an old car accident. Patients use Meadow topically for inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Meadow is effective sensually for women who experience pain during intercourse, and it makes anal sex more comfortable for the recipient, while also enhancing feeling.
Earth blend is designed for patients who are suffering from severe inflammation, seizures, muscle cramping, or anxiety. We’ve talked to patients who use it to manage arthritis, restless leg syndrome, Crohn’s disease, and PTSD. Fewer patients use Earth topically, but we have heard two stories about caregivers using it to help heal bedsores. Women, especially menopausal women, who experience pain during intercourse and who are worried about feeling intoxicated from THC choose Earth for sensual use, and it is similarly a good choice for reducing discomfort from anal sex without any chance of feeling high.

You can see all of our testimonials on our Instagram and Facebook (@luminousbotanicals), but here’s a recent patient comment that really surprised us (the patient is using Earth blend):
“I have ingested it to control all over inflammation from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Note that I do not take pharmaceutical drugs to treat my RA – only cannabis. This stuff is for real! Years ago I would get steroid shots in my fingers so I could type and turn the keys for my car and house; a couple of doses of this stuff and my fingers have the same results as those shots would give me.”

Cannabis Cure-All is strong! Because we double-test every batch, the potency numbers we show on the package are reliable, and even people who eat cannabis regularly are sometimes surprised by how concentrated it is. We encourage patients new to the Cure-All to start with a .2 ml (5 mg) dose and see how it feels. If that’s not enough, they should not take more right away. It can take up to two hours for oral cannabis to take effect, and if someone takes a second dose before the first one has kicked in, they may find themselves more altered than they want to be. We suggest waiting 12 hours and trying again with a larger amount, if needed. It can take someone a few days to find their perfect dose using this method, but once they have, they can find it every time.
Patients won’t get high from using any of our products topically, so they can use as much as they need. For localized pain, we like to rub in a layer of Cure-All, wait a few minutes until it has absorbed completely, and then apply a second dose.
While most patients won’t get high from using our products sensually, it is possible, particularly if a high THC product is used internally (vaginally or anally).
